Action Plan

Extracted from City Website

Overview

The City Council also provided guidance and context for teammates to develop an Action Plan that implements the Strategy Priorities. For purposes of this work, the City Council has defined tactics as:

  1. More concrete and specific
  2. Oriented toward smaller steps
  3. Have a shorter time frame
  4. Include things like high performance organization, best practices, specific plans and budgets

Following the City Council’s adoption of the Strategic Priorities in June 2021, City Teammates began to develop their department Action Plans. Each department selected representative(s) to be on the Action Plan team. The representatives were focused on the process and communication, with Action Plan development taking place at the Departmental Impact Team Level.

A organization wide teammate survey was distributed, providing teammates the opportunity to share their thoughts on goals and tactics for each Strategic Priority. Responses were reviewed by the Action Plan team and Impact Team for incorporation into the department

DEI Action Plan

 Extracted from City Website

After completing a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) audit in early 2021, the City of Rochester developed DEI goals for the years to come.

DEI Action Plan

2021 also brought the beginning of an organization-wide Communication & Engagement/DEI Working Group. In November 2021, the City of Rochester hosted its first DEI Symposium for teammates to learn from keynote speakers and share department-specific DEI action plans. Over 250 teammates participated and shared cross-departmental work.

About Beam
  • For the commercial sector, we tend to register startup activities (new companies and new commercial projects) that bring diversification and high-impact opportunities to the area.
  • For the non-profit sector, we wish to shine light on all the organizations and services that otherwise labor under relative obscurity.
  • Our hope is that dmcbeam.org will encourage cross-sector collaborations and creative solutions.

While there are a number of registries in the community, dmcbeam.org's  distinct value is to pilot a database with a data structure and categorizations that answer the questions such as: What organizations or projects/programs in our community that have purported relevance with some of the over-arching focuses put forward by initiatives such as DMC, J2G and Health Improvements?

This database could be used as one of the ways to explore the capacities of the community. If you are someone on an exploratory journey to learn about the greater Rochester community. dmcbeam.org could be an interesting first step.
