In the City for Good and Olmsted County will be sponsoring a forum for the Rochester faith community on August 26.

We are emerging from an extraordinary time in our lives from the global pandemic.  Many of us are faring well; however we find that many in our community continue to face challenges with affordable housing issues in our area, if not facing even more dire challenges following the pandemic.

We have invited a broad range of faith leaders in Rochester to a forum on Thursday, August 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at 125 Live. This will be a crucial and timely collaborative conversation to discuss what all in our faith communities can do to address the issue of affordable housing and the interrelated issue of homelessness.

This will be a crucial and timely collaborative conversation to discuss what all in our faith communities can do to address the issue of affordable housing and the interrelated issue of homelessness.

Our guest presenter is David Dunn, Executive Director, Olmsted County Housing and Redevelopment. David will present a session specifically for our faith leaders and will discuss how congregations can be more involved and coordinated in addressing the many issues around housing here in southeast MN.  He will provide suggestions and guidance for leaders to take ideas back to their congregations and for collaborative work.

In the second half of our time together we will focus on the kinds of congregational action that could be done in the areas of homelessness and workforce housing affordability and to build and work toward outcomes.  We hope to build a cross-community connection to foster partnerships and support being stronger together There is great value in working more collectively, finding out what is already being done and what remains to be done.

This will be an in-person event, as interaction among the participants will be a key part of the evening. However, we are also continuing to monitor the status of the virus in the area and will adjust as needed. Updates will be posted on our In the City for Good Facebook page.
